# Multi-language content
> Send a different version of a message to each profile based on its locale in Vero 2.0 broadcasts and Journeys.
You can send a different version of a message to each profile, based on the profile's `locale` property. This works for email, SMS, and push in broadcasts and Journeys.
Each language tab has its own subject, body, and other fields. Write or paste the translation into that tab, or add language versions through the [Vero MCP server](/vero-ai/overview). To manage translations in Crowdin, see the [Crowdin integration](https://www.getvero.com/integrations/crowdin). Anyone whose locale doesn't match a tab receives the **Default** content.
## Prerequisites
* Each profile you want to reach in another language needs a `locale` property set to a [supported language code](#language-codes), such as `es` or `fr-CA`. Set it the same way as any other user property, for example with the [Track API](/api-reference/overview#track-rest-api).
* Your role needs permission to edit campaigns.
## How Vero picks the content
Every message starts with a **Default** tab. When you add a language, it appears as a new tab next to **Default**, labeled with its name and code, such as **French (France) - fr-FR**.
When the message sends, Vero compares each profile's `locale` with the languages you've added:
* If the locale exactly matches a language code, the profile receives that language's content. A profile with a locale of `es-MX` doesn't receive `es` content unless you've added `es-MX`.
* If the locale doesn't match any language, or the profile has no locale, the profile receives the **Default** content.
### Partial matching
With partial matching, a profile whose locale has no exact match receives the content for its base language instead. For example, if you've added `es` but not `es-MX`, profiles with a locale of `es-MX` receive your `es` content. An exact match always wins, so if you've added both, `es-MX` profiles receive the `es-MX` content. To turn on partial matching for your account, contact [support@getvero.com](mailto:support@getvero.com).
Hover over a tab to see which profiles receive it. Write your **Default** content in the language most of your audience speaks.
## Adding a language
1. Open the message in your broadcast, or the email, SMS, or push step in your Journey.
2. Click **Add language**.
3. Search for the language by [name or code](#language-codes), then click **+ Add**.
4. Add the content for that language in its tab.
A warning icon on a tab means that language's content is incomplete.
## Changing or removing a language
Click the menu on a language tab, then:
* **Change language** – choose a different language for the same content. Click **Use** next to the new language.
* **Remove language** – delete the tab and its content. Profiles that matched this language receive the **Default** content instead.
You can't remove the **Default** tab.
## When you can edit languages
You can add, change, and remove languages while a broadcast or Journey is in draft or paused. Once a broadcast has sent or a Journey is live, the language tabs are read-only: you can switch between them to view each language's content, but not change them.
To edit the languages on a live Journey, pause it first.
## Languages and A/B tests
If your broadcast has an A/B test, each variant has its own **Default** tab and languages. Add every language you need to each variant.
## Reporting by language
When a broadcast uses at least one language, its **Full Report** includes a **Language Breakdown** table. It shows sends, deliveries, opens, clicks, conversions, and unsubscribes for each language, depending on the channel. You can export it as a CSV.
