Bot activity is increasingly common in email. Security scanners, email clients, and link-checking tools can open and click links in emails automatically, inflating your engagement metrics. Vero distinguishes between real and bot opens and clicks so you get an accurate picture of how your campaigns are performing. Other metrics such as delivered, bounced, and unsubscribed are not affected by bot detection. Real and bot engagement report

How Vero detects bots

Vero uses a combination of provider signals and industry-standard bot detection to classify opens and clicks.

Viewing real vs. bot engagement

In the campaign summary and full report, use the dropdown filter to switch between three views for opens and clicks:
  • All — total opens and clicks, including bots
  • Real — only genuine customer interactions
  • Bots — only bot-generated opens and clicks
Select Real when evaluating campaign performance, and Bots to understand how much automated activity your campaigns are attracting.

Segmentation conditions

The has opened and has clicked conditions in Vero segments and workflows only count real interactions. Bot opens and clicks do not trigger these conditions, so your segments and automated campaigns target customers who actually engaged with your email.

Exporting data

All CSV exports include both real and bot open and click data. This lets you analyze the breakdown in your own reporting tools and track bot activity trends over time.
